SUSTAINABLE FISHERIES

Emdepes, concerned about the sustainability of fishery resources, after a study and research work of 2 years, since October 2019 has the MSC COC Certification for the Austral Hake (Merluccius australis) which allows us to guarantee that the Southern Hake fishery is a sustainable and permanent fishery in time.

Regarding the control of the catches of the resources in which Emdepes participates as operator, our vessels are subject to strict daily control of the fishing, informing the authority of the volumes and fishing records that must coincide at the time of landing with the weighing of 100% of the production, in the ports of landing, work carried out by a local independent certifying company and with the presence of certifiers assigned by the National Fishing Service, who act as ministers of faith in the unloading of the vessel in port. Also as a measure of control by the authority and to comply with international regulations requiring proof of origin of catches, each vessel is monitored by the fisheries and maritime authority through satellite positioning equipment, thus obtaining 24-hour tracking of each vessel operating in the authorised fishing zone.
